Across many parts of the US, anti-lockdown protestors have taken to the streets over the government’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.

In many of those cases, suggested measures to stop the spread of COVID-19, such as wearing face masks and participating in social distancing, have not been practiced.

These non-actions by the demonstrators have left Dr. Deborah Birx concerned that they could soon cause a second wave of the virus.

“It’s devastatingly worrisome to me personally, because if they go home and infect their grandmother or their grandfather who has a comorbid condition and they have a serious or a very … unfortunate outcome, they will feel guilty for the rest of [their] lives,” the White House coronavirus response coordinator said Sunday.
