A South Korean spy agency says it was coronavirus concerns, not heart surgery, that caused Kim Jong Un to disappear for nearly a month.
The National Intelligence Service says Kim stayed out of the public eye due to coronavirus concerns, but maintained his normal duties behind the scenes.
Before he was seen inspecting a fertilizer plant on Saturday, the North Korean leader had not appeared in public since April 11th, fueling rumors he was in a coma or even dead following a botched heart surgery.
