Target Security Guard’s Arm Broken in Fight Over Protective Masks

Two men have been arrested in connection with an argument over protective masks that left a security guard with a broken arm.

The unidentified men, who police believe are homeless, were taken into custody over the weekend in California, according to LAPD Lieutenant Jim Gavin. They’re accused of walking into a Van Nuys Target on May 1st without protective masks, Gavin says. As a group of four security guards were escorting them out of the store, one of the men turned around and attacked a guard, surveillance video shows. In the fight that followed, a suspect broke one of the guards’ arms before the two ran off.

Each man has been charged with felony battery and is being held on a $50,000 bond. Gavin says this is the fourth fight to occur in Van Nuys over masks, which are now required in California.
