Coroner Releases Kobe Bryant Autopsy Results

NBA legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi and seven other people died of blunt force trauma when the helicopter they were in slammed into a hillside in January.

That’s according to the results of autopsies performed by the L.A. County Coroner’s Office, which released its findings late Friday afternoon. The results also indicate pilot Ara Zobayan, who was flying at 184 miles per hour when the crash occurred, was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. “Toxicological testing did not detect the presence of alcohol or drugs of abuse,” the report reads. “Substances tested for include: benzodiazepines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, marijuana, opioids, phencyclidine and amphetamines.”

Bryant’s widow, Vanessa, along with family members of the other victims, has filed a lawsuit against the helicopter charter agency, Island Express, claiming Zobayan shouldn’t have been flying at such a high rate of speed in foggy conditions.
