Arkansas Reports Biggest Spike in COVID-19 Cases Since March

After a brief reprieve, the coronavirus pandemic appears to be on the comeback trail in a number of states. Among them is Arkansas, which is reporting its largest single-day increase in COVID-19 cases since March.

State health officials logged 731 new cases between Thursday and Friday, bringing Arkansas’ total to 3,764 active cases. Of the new cases, 207 of the people diagnosed are inmates at the East Arkansas Regional Prison in Lee County, according to Dr. Nate Smith, secretary of the Arkansas Department of Health.

Since the pandemic began, 7,607 Arkansas residents have recovered from COVID-19, statistics indicate. That number represents 66 percent of the state’s total cases.
