Governor Pritzker signed the grocery initiative bill into law today. The goal of the 20 million dollar investment is to reduce so called food deserts across Illinois. Up to 20 percent of the funding can be used by grocery stores to make upgrades in energy efficiency. There are over three million Illinois residents that currently live without a grocery store near their home.
