Man Charged In Suburban Bank Robberies

A Franklin Park man has been charged (Friday) by a federal grand jury in connection with six suburban bank robberies where he allegedly stole more than $50,000 over the past year, according to federal prosecutors.

German Campos Jr. is charged with six counts of bank robbery, each carrying a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison, and five counts of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, each of which has a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years.

Campos is alleged to have used a handgun to rob U.S. Banks in Schaumburg, Elmhurst and Niles five times since last October — as well as a Park Ridge BMO Bank in August, according to court documents.

Campos is set to be arraigned Oct. 24.
