President Donald Trump fired the head of the National Security Agency, several media outlets reported.
Gen. Tim Haugh, who jointly oversaw U.S. Cyber Command, was let go Thursday, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Haugh’s NSA civilian deputy, Wendy Noble, also was removed from her position. Noble, though, was reassigned to a job within the Pentagon’s Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security, The Washington Post reported.
Earlier Thursday, it was reported that at least three National Security Council staffers were fired in the fallout of the Signal chat fiasco.
CNN reported the NSC firings followed conservative influencer Laura Loomer’s Wednesday visit to the Oval Office. Loomer later posted on X that she learned that “there are still people in and around the West Wing who are LEAKING to the hostile, left-wing media.”
The firings of Haugh and Noble also were advocated for by Loomer, the Post reported.
In the early hours of Friday, Loomer again took to social media.
“NSA Director Tim Haugh and his deputy Wendy Noble have been disloyal to President Trump. That is why they have been fired,” Loomer wrote on X.
“As a Biden appointee, General Haugh had no place serving in the Trump admin given the fact that he was HAND PICKED by General Milley, who was accused of committing treason by President Trump. Why would we want an NSA Director who was referred to Biden after being hand selected by Milley, who told China he would side with them over Trump!?!?”
Loomer added that, Noble “is a protege of Trump hater James Clapper, who frankly, belongs in prison…James Clapper is a traitor to his country, as are all of his enablers and supporters.”
The firings of Haugh and Nobles could be part of a larger plan to split the leadership of the NSA and Cyber Command, an idea that was considered during Trump’s first term, the Journal reported.
Lt. Gen. William J. Hartman, who was the Cyber Command deputy, was named acting NSA director, the Post reported. Sheila Thomas, who was the executive director at the NSA, was named acting deputy.
