(BRIDGEVIEW) A Chicago Police officer was injured when his weapon accidentally went off Wednesday morning at the Bridgeview courthouse.
At 9:40 a.m., an alarm malfunctioned at the Cook County courthouse at 10220 S. 76th Ave. in Bridgeview, and the building was briefly evacuated, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.
A Chicago Police officer was retrieving his weapon from a storage locker when it accidentally discharged, grazing him in the upper leg, according to the sheriff’s office.
The officer is “doing fine” and was taken to a local hospital, according to Bridgeview police.
The courthouse has returned to normal operations, according to the sheriff’s office.
