(CHICAGO) The Channahon Police Department has a new K-9 officer, purchased with drug forfeiture funds by the Will County state’s attorney’s office.
State’s Attorney James Glasgow purchased the dog, named Hutch, with $14,840 in drug forfeiture funding, according to a statement from his office.
Hutch will be the Channahon Police Department’s first K-9 unit and will be trained to take heroin and other illegal drugs off the street, the statement said. Hutch will also be a liaison between the department and citizens at local celebrations and events.
