“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert addressed recent allegations against his boss, CBS CEO Les Moonves, during his show Monday night, urging accountability, but stopping short of calling for specific action as the network executive faces allegations of sexual harassment.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I do believe in accountability,” Colbert said. “And not just for politicians you disagree with. Everybody believes in accountability until it’s their guy.”
Colbert discussed his history with Moonves, who brought Colbert to the prestigious late-night gig from Comedy Central following David Letterman’s 2015 retirement.
“He hired me to sit in this chair. He stood behind this show while we were struggling to find our voice. He gave us the time and the resources to succeed and he has stood by us when people were mad at me. And I like working for him.”
