This week’s Community Spotlight is with John Dempsey. John speaks with Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen and Attorney Michael Dorf, authors of the political biography “Clear It With Sid: Sidney R. Yates and Fifty Years of Presidents, Pragmatism, and Public Service”.

Yates was a Democratic Congressman from the North Side of Chicago from 1948 to 1998.He was known as a New Deal Liberal who would frequently work with his Republican colleagues to pass significant legislation.

Jeff Hall, who was wounded when his vehicle struck an Iraqi anti-tank mine, while serving in the Persian Gulf War, is now the National Employment Director with the Disabled American Veterans. He talks to WLS-AM 890 about disabled veterans re-entering the workforce, the benefits for companies that hire, and the new Guide to Hiring and Retaining Veterans with Disabilities. Illinois Senator Dick Durbin talks about Trump’s win and national security concerns

Durbin accused Putin’s actions as “a tactic that threatens the very basis of our democracy,” on Tuesday morning with John Howell.

“We in the U.S. have watched Putin carefully,” Durbin said. “This is not a boy scout leader – he’s an individual who has dealt with the dirtiest soviet forces, and now he leads the country.”
