Trump Supporter Rants in Lakeview Michaels

Forward the video to 10:40 for the rant earlier this year at Peet’s Coffee.

A woman who repeatedly claimed she was being discriminated against in a Chicago-area Michaels store refused to say her name as onlookers recorded her reaction, but she was quick to admit she voted for President-elect Donald Trump.

According to customer Jessica Grady, who recorded the woman seen in the now-viral video, the proud Trump voter claimed two African-American employees at a Michaels store discriminated against her after they tried to get her to purchase a reusable bag instead of giving her a free paper bag. Early into the video, the unidentified white woman can be heard saying, “and I voted for Trump, so what? You want to kick me out because of that? And guess who won? And guess who won?”
For about 10 minutes, the woman can be seen yelling at various customers and employees about her treatment and even calling the police. Throughout the ordeal, those she engaged with remained calm and asked her to leave the store even as she called the police from outside.

There is still not a release date or title for the upcoming release. Backing him on the project is the Nashville band “Loving Mary” and that’s who we’ll see him with in Chicago.

The shows will come VH-1 “Storytellers” style, a format in which he’ll weave in anecdotes about the music as he mixes Aerosmith classics with his new material.

Bail set at $150K for Lake View man charged with arson

(CHICAGO) Bail was set at $150,000 Wednesday for a 24-year-old man charged with arson in Lake View on the North Side.

Officers saw Colin Weis setting fire to a couch Tuesday that was placed near recycled oil kept outside a Lake View restaurant at 2:50 a.m. in the 900 block of West Belmont, according to Chicago Police.

Damage was limited and no one was hurt, police said.

Weis, who lives in the 3200 block of North Clark, was arrested at the scene and charged with a felony count of arson.

Weis is scheduled to appear in court next May 31.

Bail set at $75K for man charged with Lake View burglary attempt

(CHICAGO) Bail was set at $75,000 on Wednesday for a man charged with breaking into and attempting to burglarize a Lake View neighborhood home on the North Side.

David Smith, 34, of the 4900 block of North Kenmore, faces one felony count of attempted residential burglary and one misdemeanor count of criminal trespass to land, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

About 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, officers spotted Smith running away from a backyard in the 3200 block of North Seminary, police said.

At the home, a chair had been placed under a window, the window was opened and items were removed in an attempt to make it easier for the burglar to climb inside, police said. Smith was found hiding in a garage nearby and was subsequently identified as the would-be burglar.

Smith is scheduled to appear in court next May 31.

30 displaced, firefighter hurt in extra-alarm blaze in Lake View

(CHICAGO) Thirty people were displaced from their homes and a firefighter was hurt in an extra-alarm blaze that damaged 12 buildings Monday evening in the Lake View neighborhood on the North Side.

The fire began about 5 p.m. on the rear porch of a 2 1/2-story apartment building at 3338 N. Marshfield and spread to 11 surrounding buildings, according to Chicago Fire Department District Chief Dan Cunningham. The fire also downed a few power lines in the area.

One firefighter suffered suffered burns to their arm, according to Fire Media Affairs. They were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition.

No other injuries were reported, and the residents in all 12 buildings made it out on their own, Cunningham said. The building where the fire began may be a total loss. The American Red Cross was at the scene Monday evening.

The power lines and rush-hour traffic congestion made fighting the blaze difficult, but the fire was struck out about 6 p.m., Cunningham said.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, but “combustibles” and a steady breeze accelerated the fire, Cunningham said.

A total of 127 firefighters in 41 companies responded to the fire, Cunningham said.

Dozens of onlookers and television news camera crews gathered along the edges of police crime scene tape at the intersection of Roscoe and Marshfield after the fire was struck out.

Mark Hewitt has lived across the street from 3338 N. Marshfield for six years and said emergency crews evacuated his building soon after their arrival. He said he planned to stay at a friend’s home in Edgewater until he was allowed back inside his own home.

He added that the extent of the fire damage was quickly apparent.

“Within 15 minutes, that gray house was completely totaled,” Hewitt said.

Police warn of Lake View, Roscoe Village armed robberies

(CHICAGO) Chicago Police are cautioning Lake View and Roscoe Village neighborhood residents after two armed robberies occurred minutes apart late Wednesday, one involving an off-duty Cook County sheriff’s officer.

In both cases, suspects “used force and the threat of force,” police said.

About 11:30 p.m., the officer, a man, was approached by two males wearing masks about 11:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of West Belmont, police said.

The males announced a robbery and one of them fired a weapon at the officer, police said. The officer returned fire, but no one was struck.

The robbers ran away with the officer’s cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

“Our officer appears to be okay to which we are grateful,” Cook County sheriff’s spokeswoman Sophia Ansari said.

The suspects were described as black males wearing all black, police said.

Five minutes later, two suspects took a person’s wallet, cellphone and backpack in the 3200 block of North Clark, police said.

The two were described as black males, between 20 and 25 years old, standing 6-feet to 6-foot-2 and weighing between 170 and 180 pounds, police said. Both wore a black skull cap, black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. Both had a dark complexion.

Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.
