Police: Body found in River North parking garage

(CHICAGO) A body was found after a rubbish fire in a River North parking garage Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Firefighters responded about 6 a.m. to the report of the rubbish fire on the 11th floor of the parking garage in the 300 block of North LaSalle, according to Chicago Police and the Chicago Fire Department.

The body, possibly a female, was found charred, lying on the ground next to an electrical box, a source said.

Area Central and arson detectives were investigating, police said.

Additional information was not immediately available.

Police: Man choked jogger in River North

(CHICAGO) Chicago Police are searching for a man who attacked a woman while she was jogging last weekend in River North.

Just before 6 a.m. Saturday, the man started following her in the 200 block of West Kinzie, according to a community alert issued Wednesday.

He grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground, and ran away when a passerby approached, police said.

The attacker is described as a 25-year-old white man, about 5-foot-8 with a medium build, wearing a black baseball cap, black T-shirt, khaki shorts and black shoes.

Food writer Josh Ozersky found dead in Chicago

(CHICAGO) Food writer Josh Ozersky was found dead Monday morning in a River North hotel in Chicago. He was 47.

Ozersky, who lived in Manhattan, was found in a room on the seventh floor of the Conrad Chicago Hotel at 521 N. Rush, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at 11:40 a.m.

An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted Tuesday.

A James Beard Award winner, Ozersky was the former editor of New York magazine’s Grub Street food blog and author of “Colonel Sanders and the American Dream” (2012), “The Hamburger: A History” (2008) and “Meet Me In Manhattan: A Carnivore’s Guide to New York City” (2003). In October he became edit0r-at-large at Esquire.

He served on the awards committee of the 2015 James Beard Awards, which were presented Monday night in Chicago.
